چکیده
PC: We are aware that other research communities have done this kind of thing. Particularly in the information retrieval community and in the database community they have done this kind of study and we are also aware of citation type analysis, for instance, in genomics there is some famous citation analysis that has been done there. But we thought, because we belong to this small community that has several subthemes within it, and we have come to this fifteen-year milestone, it would be useful to do a systematic analysis of our community in those terms. There are some aspects of the community that we believe are unusual, particularly that some research is overlapping and that a contribution can belong to more than one theme. So that was interesting to see if we could uncover that with the type of analysis that we did.

CBR in Scheduling: Reusing Solution Components
In this paper we explore the reuse of components of known good schedules in new scheduling problems. This involves accumulating a case-base of good quality schedules, retrieving a case (or cases) similar to a new scheduling problem and building a new schedule from components of the retrieved cases. Two CBR solutions to a single machine scheduling problem with schedule dependent setup times are ...
متن کاملRetrieval Issues in Real-World CBR Applications How far can we go with discrimination-nets?
In this paper we present a proposition and ponder a question. We propose that a useful perspective on analogical reasoning and CBR is to consider them on a continuum of abstraction of remindings. This is an alternative to the conventional view where CBR and analogical reasoning are seen as separate endeavours with analogical reasoning dealing with remindings between domains and CBR concerned wi...
متن کاملA Comparison of Model-Based and Incremental Case-Based Approaches to Electronic Fault Diagnosis
CBR seems well suited to fault diagnosis because diagnostic episodes naturally form cases and much of expert competence seems to be based on reuse of old solutions. However, in many diagnosis problems it is difficult to compile a complete case description in advance, consequently the conventional one-shot case retrieval methodology will not work. In this paper we introduce a set of fault diagno...
متن کامل7. Knowledge-Intensive Product Search and Customization in Electronic Commerce
A major requirement of today’s online shops is the availability of competent virtual sales agents that guide the customers through the vast space of available products, services, and other opportunities. This function is mostly implemented by search agents that should help customers to find relevant product information. While these search functions are considered quite important by the online s...
متن کاملComplexity of Adaptation in Real-World Case-Based Reasoning Systems
The essence of Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) as a problem solving paradigm is that solutions are generated by adapting the solutions of similar problems rather than solving the problem from first principles. In this paper we present a categorisation of problem solving tasks, arranged according to complexity. In addition we categorise CBR systems according to the complexity of the adaptation proces...
